45 Email Ideas for your Email List

I learned a few years back how important an email list is when running an online business. I remember the day that Instagram went BLACK and in that moment, I decided I needed to protect my audience and develop a strategy to build an email list.

I went all-in on creating a process where I would send out a Friday Newsletter with tips, tricks and motivation. My only problem was, I kept running out of ideas on what to write in my emails! Writers block was quite literally my middle name.

If you understand the importance of an email list but you run out of what to write, let me help! I am sharing with you 45 Email ideas for your Email List!
Before we go into the list of 45 email topics, let's cover some basic email writing skills.

Tell a story

My favorite type of email to read is a story where I can understand more about the writer but also feel like I get to know them better.
How to write an email telling a story: don't share the story from the beginning. Start your story with the MOST interesting part. Imagine your story is a movie, what would the trailer show? For example; "He asked me for my number and I accidentally BURPED while giving it to him" versus "I want to tell you a story about a guy that hit on me..."
Notice how the first sentence HOOKED the reader, made them visualize what was happening before they even know what's happening. This one trick is going to transform your storytelling!

Be Descriptive

Authors that can describe versus just make statements are the ones that can totally take you away and insert you into their world.
How to write an email being descriptive: avoid making statements. For example; "I was running so late" could be turned into "I couldn't remember where I parked and once I got in my car I realized I was almost out of gas. It didn't help that on my way to getting gas I hit every single red light and got caught behind the slowest driver I've ever seen."
Everyone knows what it means to be running late, but the second option allows the reader to fully capture the severity of what you are describing.

Speak to 5 year olds

Ok, seriously though - if you were to read your email to a 5 year old, would they understand the point? Because if not, you need to make it simpler. Sometimes we think we need life-changing lessons, transformational stories and mind-blowing examples. The thing is, more people will connect with you when it is less complicated!
